One day it struck me that these writers had something unique in common—they were all women! I was determined to find out why they were so good at what they did, and why their manuscripts were always so well-written. With A.J.C.'s help, I created a special section in our A&E section for articles by women authors about writing and publishing. We hoped the articles would both entertain readers and give them tools they could use to be better writers.

My most memorable article was about how Eudora Welty's career began with a rejection letter that she cherished for years. That article sparked A&E's interest in publishing more articles on how female authors become better writers, and the "Getting Into Print" section was born! Today, A&E has nearly 100 "Getting Into Print" articles on its site, and I'm proud to say that we're honored each year with an award from Writer's Digest (and proud to be included among the winners). I hope you enjoy this selection of "Getting Into Print" articles as much as we do!
